On Saturday 10th November, as part of a 'Great Lion Dash' around three bookshops in the North, Helen Stephens came to The Little Ripon Bookshop and painted Iris and her Lion from the book 'How to Hide a Lion at Christmas' on our window! Come and have a look!
Man Booker Window Competition Win!
Wahoo! Our window display for this year's Man Booker Prize Shortlist, with the GIANT versions of the shortlisted titles, has won the competition!

Jonny Duddle 'Scurvy Sands' Window Competition Win!
OOO ARR!! We're over the moon to have won the 'Scurvy Sands' Window Competition to celebrate Jonny Duddle's new book, The Pirates of Scurvy Sands'! Jonny will be coming to Ripon for an event some time in early 2019 as part of our prize!

Literary giant, Louis de Bernieres visited Ripon on 13th September as part of the Ripon Poetry Festival, to perform some of his poetry at the Ripon Spa Hotel. Thanks to everyone who came along for a very entertaining evening.

Tiger Tea Party
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Tiger Who Came to Tea, we threw a special tiger-themed storytime in our garden at the back of the shop! Featuring tiger stories, tiger crafts and tiger biscuits!
IBW Bookshop Takeover
Independent Bookshop Week 2018 was all about Bookshop Heroes, and we saw some of our own in the shop on Monday 18th July and Tuesday 19th July! The amazing reading ambassadors from Kirkby Malzeard Primary School wrangled till training, wrestled with deliveries, battle book orders and conquered recommendations!
The Great North Author Tour
This Independent Bookshop Week, Saturday 16th July, we hosted four Northern authors, Dan SMith, Chloe Daykin, Em Lynas and Chris Callaghan for a signing in the shop, as part of a world-wide, one-day tour of Northern Bookshops. Thanks so much to Richard Darke for organising, for the authors for coming and for everybody who cheered them on as they crossed the finish line! What fun!
Niddfest is back!
After a year off, everyone's favourite Nidderdale-based, nature-writing festival has returned for even more amazing events! Including Fiona Mozley, and The Yorkshire Vet, 'Julian Norton', we're thrilled to have supported Niddfest for another year.
Stephanie Butland returns to Ripon for 'The Curious Heart of Ailsa Rae'
While not in a yurt this time (like her visit in October 2017), Oliver's Pantry made the perfect setting for Stephanie's talk about her latest book. Including themed food, and music, thanks to Lou and the team for hosting us, and to Stephanie for coming back to see us!

On Thursday 12th April 2018, we got a visit from the wonderful chef, Tommy Banks, signing his new cook book, Roots. Thank you to the queue of people who came to see Tommy (and get pictures with him!), we hope you enjoy all the recipes!

Claire Fuller returns to Ripon for 'Swimming Lessons'
Following her triumphant win of the first ever Little Award for her book 'Our Endless Numbered Days', Claire returned to Ripon on 19th March to introduce her new book, 'Swimming Lessons'.

Our annual competition for World Book Day 2018 was to create your favourite book in a box - and boy did we get some terrific entries! Judged by local gallery owner, Liz Hawkes, we can announce that the winner is Charlotte, for her 'Enchanted Wood'.
